SANDERS\WINGO VICE PRESIDENT LESLIE WINGO NAMED
2011 AUSTIN ADVERTISING FEDERATION SILVER MEDAL RECIPIENT
AUSTIN, TX — Sanders\Wingo today announces that agency Senior Vice President and Group Account Director Leslie Wingo has been named the 2011 Silver Medal Award recipient by the Austin Advertising Federation.
The local chapter of the American Advertising Federation presents the award to members they feel made outstanding contributions to advertising and furthered “the industry’s standards, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern.” The tradition of the award dates back more than 50 years within the national organization, which currently represents more than 40,000 advertising professionals.
“To say I’m honored would be an extreme understatement,” Wingo said. “The Austin advertising scene is experiencing a period of dynamic innovation as well as creative recognition. To receive this award now among such an incredible roster of peers leaves me incredibly humbled.”
Wingo, who received her advertising degree from the University of Texas at El Paso, began her career in the media department of the Sanders\Wingo’s El Paso office. She led the opening of the agency’s Austin office in 2001 and has worked on the account teams for clients such as State Farm Insurance, the U.S. Postal Service and Shell Oil.
“Through her work with Sanders\Wingo, she shed light on diversity, multicultural and urban issues,” Austin Advertising Federation President Karen Goumakos said. “Her work outside of Sanders\Wingo also supported multiple types of communities and organizations — Fight For Air and The Austin Lung Association, the Austin Ad Fed, and the Austin Planetarium to name a few.”
The Austin Advertising Federation plans to present Wingo with the award at this year’s Big Wigs Event on Wednesday, October 19, at Mercury Hall in Austin.
